
We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
We are actively seeking highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistants who possess a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs. Our team is committed to making a positive impact on students facing various challenges, providing compassionate care, and contributing to the betterment of our community. As an Education Assistant – Special Needs, your role encompasses facilitating the delivery of structured education programs. This involves overseeing small groups of students under the teacher's guidance to nurture young minds and contribute to the overall health and well-being of students. Your work environment should be collaborative, providing crucial support to students within the classroom setting.
You should have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. Applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting. Valuable experience in working with students dealing with Autism spectrum disorder, mental health issues, medical conditions, and behavioural special needs would be highly advantageous.

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students
