Bob Hawke College opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia. Our pastoral care approach has been specifically designed to support young adults. Specialist staff provide students with individual support, as well as delivering social and emotional learning through CREW – our pastoral care program. The Role
We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Head of Department (HOD) – Arts to foster excellence and creativity within our Arts Department.
Working in close collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the successful applicant would provide strong educational leadership within the school and broader community. This role is central to developing, articulating and promoting the school’s vision, while fostering a culture in which staff and community members share collective ownership of our goals and aspirations.
In your capacity as a curriculum leader, you would play a crucial role in providing professional guidance to the Arts teachers, ensuring that they stay informed on relevant curriculum issues within your Learning Area. The successful applicant will be instrumental in facilitating teaching and learning outcomes, employing effective performance management strategies, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement among the school's academic community.
The HOD is responsible for the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, focussing on the development of the whole student. The successful applicant will ideally be caring, curious about learning and learners; invested in the College and the community; have a sense of humour; and reflective of themselves and their practice.
