The Role

The successful applicant will ideally have the following attributes:
- Interpersonal skills and capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Capacity to build good relationships with all students
- Commitment to our signature pedagogy of Explicit Direct Instruction
- Capacity to plan curriculum including scope, sequencing, and lesson design collaboratively
- Strong teaching and classroom management skills, including Classroom Management Strategies
- Data analysis skills and evidence-based planning to improve literacy and numeracy results for all students
- Confident use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the classroom
- Engage in reflective practice, informed by classroom observations, student feedback surveys and close examination of student performance data.
We seek motivated applicants with a passion for teaching Languages, possessing a solid understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. In your role as a Primary Languages teacher, you should ideally deliver a curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of all students, fostering an environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential. Being a District High School, you will be responsible also for teaching Languages to Year 7 and 8 students. Your dedication to academic excellence and high-quality teaching and learning will set the standard for our learning community.
Strong behaviour support capabilities, grounded in genuine, positive relationships, are vital in this context. The successful applicant would adopt the whole school PBS approach to behaviour management and embed trauma-informed approaches and cultural awareness in the classroom and whole-school environment. Positive interpersonal skills and a commitment to maintaining our positive staff culture are essential.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
