
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Maarakool Primary School (PS) is situated on Noongar Whadjuk Boodjhar and opens for Kindy to Year 6 students in 2025. The school is projected to open with 350 students and will cater for 540 students. Our school community includes families of different backgrounds and cultures, many from overseas where English is not the first language or dialect spoken at home.

The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistants who ideally have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills who can build effective relationships to ensure positive outcomes for all students. With relationships central to the work we do, education assistants at Maarakool Primary School work together to engage all children, families and stakeholders and build a community to enable opportunities for all students. The personal qualities that you bring to this role should ideally include a commitment to team before self; solutions focussed problem solving; fostering a growth mindset; engaging in regular reflective practice and acting on feedback.
We are seeking applicants who bring a strength-based approach to partnering with families and actively and positively contribute to our team culture and a commitment to inclusion. They should be open to feedback and seek learning opportunities and be flexible, proactive team players, willing to work across multiple classrooms and settings. They should be skilled in understanding the needs of students with a range of learning difficulties and/ or disability including ADHD, Autism and trauma.
