Halls Head Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principal’s for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

 Halls Head Primary School is seeking to establish a pool of highly capable and student-focused Deputy Principals to support Student Services across the school. The suitable applicants will ideally provide strong leadership in the coordination and delivery of support for Students at Educational Risk (SAER), including working closely with Disability Resourcing processes and ensuring effective planning and implementation of reasonable adjustments for students with disability and additional learning needs.

The Deputy Principal should work collaboratively with classroom teachers, education assistants and support staff to respond proactively to students with a diverse range of needs, including those who may be undiagnosed, and will build staff capability through coaching, modelling and professional learning to strengthen inclusive classroom practice across the school, with a particular focus on the Early Childhood phase of learning (Kindergarten to Year 2). The suitable applicants will ideally demonstrate knowledge and experience in leading contemporary Early Childhood Education practices aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum, National Quality Standards (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and will support strong foundations in learning, wellbeing and early intervention.

The suitable applicants will ideally demonstrate strong instructional leadership and will support high-quality classroom instruction and effective curriculum delivery across the school. Experience and understanding of explicit instruction practices will be highly regarded, along with the ability to support staff to implement evidence-informed approaches that improve student engagement and achievement.

A key focus of the role will be leading the effective collection, tracking and analysis of student data, and using this information to guide teaching and learning decisions and targeted intervention. The suitable applicants will ideally have demonstrated capacity to lead staff in using data to inform instruction and improve outcomes for all students.

The Deputy Principal will ideally also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage families in supportive and solution-focused ways, fostering positive relationships that strengthen student wellbeing, attendance and learning success.

Experience in any of the following areas is highly regarded:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring high quality teaching practices aligned to the DoE Teaching for Impact statement and resources
  • Instructional leadership in high quality explicit teaching practices
  • Leading the management of Students at Educational Risk (SAER) as part of a Student Services team, including liaising with families and external providers
  • Curriculum leadership
  • Authentically leading a culturally responsive environment
  • Leading a culture of whole school culture of academic assessment, review and improvement
  • Whole-school values-based behaviour systems including contemporary classroom/behaviour management strategies
  • Leading the development of whole school approaches to wellbeing
  • Community relations and communications
  • Leading contemporary Early childhood Education practices aligned to the WA Curriculum, National Quality Standards and The Early Years Framework
  • National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) Online
  • Academic extension/enrichment
