The Role

Carson Street School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cleaner in Charge to join their friendly team. To be suitable for this role you should have good attention to detail and will ideally be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. You will ideally be organised, reliable and punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.

The Cleaner In Charge is responsible for opening and closing the school. The successful applicant should maintain the cleaners’ time-book, report absences and arrange relief staff. whilst liaising with Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters, ensuring advice and support is current, relevant and consistent with the Department’s policies, training and procedures on school cleaning. You should provide on the job induction training for new cleaning staff whilst conducting monthly cleaning inspections with the Manager Corporate Services.

The successful applicant should ensure all leave and allowance forms are completed correctly before forwarding to the Manager Corporate Services whilst recording and responding to issues and concerns detailed in the Communication Book. The successful applicant should undertake cleaning of allocated internal and external areas, including emptying external rubbish containers into the waste disposal system provided at the school. You may order and maintain stock and equipment and monitor the budget. The successful applicant will ideally manage hazardous substances in accordance with occupational safety and health legislation, including maintaining records whilst monitoring and managing staff leave entitlements in consultation with the Manager Corporate Services. You should manage staff performance in consultation with the Manager Corporate Services whilst ensuring school facilities are cleaned and maintained in accordance with Department procedure.
