This is a 10 month fixed term, part-time (0.8 FTE) position commencing February 2026

The Schools Group provides strategic leadership for Western Australian public schools, setting system-wide directions to promote educational excellence and improved student outcomes. The group supports regions and schools through educational leadership, oversees responses to key operational initiatives such as exclusions, student safety, home schooling and agricultural education, and leads the implementation of major reforms including a new school information system. It also develops and implements operational policies and guides the delivery of services to schools across the system.

In partnership with the Australian Government Department of Education, the Western Australian Department of Education is delivering the Scaling Up Success in Remote Schools Program. Through this agreement, the Regional Learning Initiative has expanded the Kimberley Schools Project to selected schools in the Goldfields, Midwest and Pilbara Education Regions, supporting improved teaching practice and learning outcomes in remote and regional contexts.

The Role

The role supports the implementation of system strategies and priorities by contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of policies, programs and initiatives that improve student outcomes. It assists in the development and delivery of professional learning resources, provides subject matter expertise to inform system responses, and contributes to briefings, reports and Ministerial correspondence. The role also works collaboratively across teams and business units to ensure integrated advice, services and support to schools.

The position coordinates and monitors administrative systems and processes for Regional Learning Initiatives, including project management support, data collection, analysis and program evaluation to inform planning and reporting. It provides executive and secretariat support to committees and working groups, prepares a range of written materials, and manages electronic and online resources related to projects and programs.

In addition, the role undertakes financial, procurement and contract management activities in accordance with policy and budget requirements, and supports human resource coordination within the branch. It liaises with internal and external stakeholders, works in a culturally responsive and context-specific manner, and ensures effective records, correspondence and administrative support to enable successful delivery of initiatives.
