The Role
Join our team as a Gardener - Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment! As a key member, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds, and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving.
Suitable applicants will perform gardening duties, as well as grounds and facility maintenance to ensure a safe, clean and inviting school environment. They will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management, and provide a suitable growing environment for plants. Suitable applicants will also perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. Ideally, suitable applicants will have good communication and interpersonal skills and work well with others.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to provide grounds and maintenance advice and to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and community. It is expected that you should have the capacity to work unsupervised, with the ability to identify and recognise work that is required to be completed, and build a calendar of scheduled tasks, without specific direction.
