At EKC, our vision is that families and students choose our school and we empower students to succeed. Our values of respect, responsibility, prepared and safety and motto of 'Seek, Strive, Believe, Achieve' guide our staff, students and community to achieve that vision.

The Location and Community

Kununurra is the eastern gateway to the Kimberley and offers many opportunities for adventure seekers. Throughout March to October the weather is mild, the surroundings are lush green, and there are many camping and hiking opportunities within a short drive. Lake Kununurra is a 56km stretch of fresh water that runs along the edge of the Town of Kununurra and connects to Lake Argyle, making easy access for fishing and boating. Throughout December to February the wet season fills the local springs and turns on local waterfalls, making Kununurra a beautiful place to live all year round.

For those wanting to explore the Kimberley, the Gibb River Road begins 58kms outside of Kununurra and runs all the way to Broome via a series of sealed and unsealed roads. Campsites and gorges are dotted all the way along. Kununurra also connects to Broome via the sealed Great Northern Highway, which runs through Halls Creek and the Fitzroy Valley Crossing.

The Role

EKC invites applications from an experienced, strategic and team-focused MCS to join the leadership team of one of Western Australia’s most dynamic and complex regional K–12 schools. This pivotal role contributes directly to the school’s vision of “the school of choice, empowering learners to succeed” by ensuring the school’s corporate, financial, asset, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), administrative and compliance systems operate with excellence, integrity and efficiency in support of student outcomes.

As an integral member of the executive team, the MCS would ideally have highly accomplished expertise in leading and managing school financial and accounting processes, asset and building management, ICT governance, administrative services, business planning, marketing and communications within a large and complex school environment. The successful applicant would provide strategic leadership in the development and deployment of physical, human and financial resources, ensuring systems, structures and services enable a positive school experience for students, staff, families and the wider community.

Working in close partnership with the Principal, the MCS will ideally ensure occupational health and safety, compliance and legislative requirements are embedded into daily operations and future planning. This role relies on exceptional teamwork, organisation, planning and resourcefulness, with the agility to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills would be highly regarded, with the capacity to provide courteous, professional and responsive service while maintaining calm, ethical and solutions-focused leadership in complex situations.

The ideal applicant will bring not only proven leadership and corporate services expertise, but also the personal attributes that underpin effective leadership: openness to learning, trustworthiness, resilience, interpersonal acumen, self-awareness and a strong drive to excel. They will be reflective, ethical, collaborative and committed to building respectful relationships across the school and community, modelling integrity and professionalism while fostering a culture of excellence in all aspects of school operations.

The MCS leads an administration team consisting of 12-15 staff consisting of School Support Officers, Business Support Officers, Public Servants, Cleaners, Gardeners, and an ICT Senior Teacher. The MCS is a member of the Executive and College Leadership Teams and Finance committees. They work with the Principal and other leaders to plan, manage,  monitor and report a budget of $15-18 million dollars.
