
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Education Assistants take a valued role in our team. Duitable applicants will ideally collaborate in a team environment to develop and implement individual education plans and other documented plans. Suitable applicants should ideally have a knowledge of students with additional needs, and the capacity to support students with social skill development and emotional regulation. Experience supporting students from English as an additional Language or Dialect backgrounds will be highly regarded. As an Education Assistant you would work and perform tasks that require discretion and judgement to assist students in achieving their full potential. We strive for an inclusive school environment that caters for students with a diverse range of support needs both academically and socially.
Education Assistants support students and classes across a wide range of curriculum areas and year levels within the school. Suitable applicants will ideally possess a high level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with teachers to scaffold the curriculum and provide feedback on teaching and learning adjustments. It is important that applicants have a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, showing initiative and flexibility to produce the best opportunities for students.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
