We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for fixed term and permanent part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Established in 1922, Kendenup Primary School (PS) is a rural school approximately 18 kilometres north of Mount Barker and 4 kilometres east of the Albany Highway. The school is a Level 4B school. The school has community connections and receives assistance from the school community in academic, sporting and cultural events.

The Role
We are looking for Special Needs Education Assistants to join our team and support the Department’s main objective of teaching and learning for students with special needs. Members of our team will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students, while also being part of a culture that values teamwork, inclusivity and professional development.
Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They will also provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students is highly regarded.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. Additionally, they will ideally be compassionate and able to work collaboratively to implement documented plans.
We strongly value applicants who possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and teachers. They will ideally have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour and have some experience or knowledge of disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
