We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Welcome to Dryandra Primary School (PS). We are a small school nestled in amongst the swaying gum trees in the suburb of Mirrabooka. Our school is like a family; all the staff, parents and students know and care about each other. This typifies our school values of 'Caring, Learning and Working together'. We cater for students from kindergarten to Year 6.

As we head towards our 30th Anniversary, we are getting ready to celebrate our traditions, strengths and essence of being a member of the Dryandra PS community.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist in the education programs, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You should assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. Within this role you should provide feedback when requested on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.

Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students including those with disabilities and additional learning needs. You should support staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs), foster a safe respectful, and engaging learning environment, and assist with personal care and mobility. The ideal applicant possesses the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and have the ability to support student growth, promote independence and confidence both academically and socially, within the classroom and playground setting.

You should also have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour, and some experience or knowledge of disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly desirable.
