About the Role
Gascoyne Junction Remote Community School (RCS) is looking for a dedicated and passionate Principal, who is committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. Gascoyne Junction is located approximately 180kms east of Carnarvon, on Ingarrda Country where the Lyons and Gascoyne Rivers meet.
The school serves a community of approximately 10 students and their families within a caring and supportive environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students and staff, whilst engaging parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school. The school has a strong focus on improving school attendance and engagement programs, along with a clear focus on literacy and numeracy to ensure every student achieves success.
As the principal, you will work to ensure teachers are supported to create learning environments that promote the academic progress and achievement of every student. You will be an instructional leader with an understanding of current practices to continue the focus on high impact teaching. Proven experience in setting the optimal conditions for teachers to cater to students with diverse learning needs through data informed practice is highly desirable.
The principal will have a strong understanding of leading a culturally responsive school, valuing the local Aboriginal community, and will work with the community to ensure there is a partnership between school and the community.
The principal is responsible for using innovation and creativity to establish systems and structures fostering academic achievement to nurture the social and emotional development of students, whilst engaging the school community within educational programs of the school. You will possess a commitment to continuous school improvement through the Public School Review and lead high-quality teaching and learning practices.
The principal will build strategic networks with other schools, local agencies, and services in the community to benefit school programs. Gascoyne Junction RCS is part of the Desert Coast Network and is committed to the Midwest Targeted Teaching Program based on evidence-based practice.
The school has developed extensive programs to support all students, including those with complex needs and students with a disability. The principal will lead a clear focus in Student Wellbeing and Care: future directions to ensure the needs of all students are catered for. The principal will have excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, whilst understanding the importance of working with the local community.
