The Role
The Statewide Services Division is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Manager - Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support to join the Service Delivery Branch. Service Delivery is the key interface with schools, and its purpose is to plan, coordinate and deliver targeted services that support schools and regions to improve student achievement.
The successful applicant will bring to the position strong leadership and organisational skills, a keenness to learn, and an enjoyment of variety. Working to the Service Director, this position manages a very diverse portfolio that covers national Early Childhood Policy Group and State activity.
The Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support Directorate provides coordinated primary, early childhood, and education support expertise to regions and schools. Additionally, the Directorate’s projects and programs span the Early Education Period (pre-Kindergarten e.g., Child and Parent Centres and KindiLink), early childhood (e.g., implementing the National Quality Standard, Early Years Framework, and new phonics assessment), year 3 to year 6 curriculum, as well as targeting support for specific cohorts, such as English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD), Aboriginal children, and children with a disability. The Statewide Services Resource Centre also falls under this Directorate.
The Manager, Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support will work with a cohesive, highly capable and autonomous team of professionals. You will ideally possess leadership skills that recognise and empower team members' capability to lead and manage their respective projects, programs, and work with schools. Working alongside other Branch managers, the Manager will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and sustain internal and external productive relationships.
The successful applicant will ideally have strong communication skills with the ability to write high-level memos and briefings and provide pro-active advice to develop and improve the Directorate's services. You will ideally have knowledge of program development, planning, review and evaluation, as well as financial management.
