
We are seeking to establish a pool of Assistant Gardener – Handypersons for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Darling Range Sports College is a highly successful comprehensive Independent Public School with a student population of around 1050 and over 100 teaching and support staff. Darling Range Sports College first opened in 1975 as Forrestfield Senior High School and later transitioned to a sports college in 2008.
As an Independent Public School we provide specialist sporting programs in AFL/ AFLW, athletics, baseball, basketball, netball, soccer and swimming. Our teams train and play in our state of the art facilities where athletes also have access to the strength and conditioning centre. These specialist sporting programs allow our students to work with elite coaches and some programs provide students with the opportunity to travel interstate and internationally to compete in sporting competitions. The Role
To be successful in this role you will ideally have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy maintaining the grounds, gardens, and facilities for the benefit of our staff, students, and school community.
The Assistant Gardener - Handyperson will provide gardening, grounds, and facility management support to ensure a safe and clean school environment. They will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management.
Suitable applicants will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
Suitable applicants will ideally have effective communication skills to help develop and maintain good working relationships with school staff and external stakeholders. A sound knowledge of safe work practices would also be highly desirable.
