Lakeland Senior High School (SHS) is a thriving school community. Extracurricular programs are in abundance and after school homework classes are well attended. The Role

With a focus on encouraging our students to achieve their academic best within a culturally responsive learning environment, the role may include supporting our Yirra Koolang Yorga program (if female), Follow the Dream, Cultural Club, Deadly Transition and assisting teachers in delivering planned education programs which foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment across the school. The successful applicant will be required to work with students in small groups and individually in order to provide support, including in-class support, to staff and students through mentoring and pastoral care to strengthen wellbeing, engagement and learning. We are seeking applicants who can form positive relationships with students, to help improve school engagement.

Ideally successful applicants will be enthusiastic, reliable and experienced in providing support and effective assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their parents/guardians, teachers, the school and the community through the knowledge, understanding and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture. Applicants with capabilities to share knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture across the school and be a key leader in developing cultural events are highly desired. It is desired that you have strong connections with the community and external agencies and are able to work with the school staff in implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and developing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
