This is a 9 month fixed term, part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.

Woodlands Primary School (PS) is seeking an experienced Deputy Principal to join our friendly, capable and dedicated leadership team to make a positive contribution to the education of children at our school.

Woodlands PS is a community-focused school that provides a warm, inclusive and high-quality education for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Student wellbeing is a key priority. We support student success by creating a safe and caring environment where every child feels welcome and confident to learn. Everything we do is guided by our values of Belonging, Respect, Humanity and Possibilities.

Our wellbeing programs support resilience, confidence and a positive approach to learning. We offer learning support for students who need additional help, including students with disability, and students learning English as an additional language students. We work closely with outside agencies when specialist support is needed.

We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, supported by evidence-based teaching strategies across all year levels. In recent years we have strengthened our whole-school approaches, which has led to improved student progress. Digital technologies are used in all classrooms to build creative and flexible learners.

Students enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum. Specialist programs include Science, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education and Japanese. Students can also participate in a range of extra-curricular opportunities such as choir, sports teams, sustainability projects and community service activities.

Woodlands PS plays a central role in the local community. We work in partnership with parents and carers, and our active parent community is involved in many aspects of school life. Before and after school care is available on site for families who need it.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally provide educational leadership focused on improving student outcomes and will support the principal in the development and implementation of the school’s Strategic and Operational Plans. As an instructional leader, the Deputy Principal should foster the professional growth of staff and lead whole-school initiatives.

A deep understanding of the Western Australian curriculum and a commitment to current, evidence-based teaching practices is highly regarded. The Deputy Principal will ideally build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider school community to support student engagement and success.
