This is a 12 month fixed term, part-time (0.88 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

The Role

The Home Economics Assistant supports the Department of Education’s main objective of teaching and learning of students, by assisting the teacher and providing classroom level support to enable the delivery of high quality, student-focused learning programs. This is a dynamic and hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong interest in home economics, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to student wellbeing and success.

The successful applicant will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs and assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations. They should assist the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities; and assist with the general care and well-being of students. The ideal applicant should be able to work effectively in a team environment and should therefore be able to demonstrate initiative and organisational skills to achieve this consistently.
