Legal and Legislative Services are seeking to establish a pool of Senior Investigators for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of July 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Currently there are two permanent, full-time or part-time vacancies available for immediate filling.

The Legal and Legislative Services Branch provides advice to the Department on legal and legislation matters. The Branch deals with, and on behalf of the Department, provides advice about various sensitive legal issues, complaints, administrative law, legislation issues, insurance and claims against the Department.

The Role

Senior Investigators manage historical sexual abuse and civil claims investigation. They conduct high level and significantly sensitive investigations by conducting interviews and identifying relevant documents for legal advisors.

  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
  • hold a current C class driver’s licence.
