The School
Coastal Lakes College (CLC) is located in Lakelands, a south-western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah. The college opened in 2019 and now caters for students in Year 7 to 12 (in 2025). We are a fast growing and innovative college which includes an Inclusive Education hub for students with moderate to severe disabilities. The Role
CLC is seeking to appoint a passionate, committed, and leadership-focused Health and Physical Education teacher with strong background skills and qualifications in the coaching of Australian Rules Football (AFL) to lead the AFL Academy Program. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Teacher-in-Charge position of the AFL Academy Program which is aligned with the Western Australian Football Commission. The AFL Academy Program commences in 2026 for Year 8 students and then expands into other year groups in 2027. The Western Australia Football Commission aligned academy program will deliver quality football education and competition opportunities for students at CLC to meet the strong interest that exists for AFL in our local community. This position would not only suit a passionate HPE teacher with suitable credentials in AFL, but also someone has aspirations to lead a program and develop their leadership capabilities.
The successful applicant will ideally be committed to fostering positive relationships, ensuring high levels of student engagement and sustaining high expectations of success for every student regardless of their starting point. The successful applicant will ideally possess high standards of professionalism and will embrace opportunities for collaboration within the College community and neighbouring schools.
The successful applicant should possess the professional knowledge and understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school AFL, Health and Physical Education curriculum. As an expert practitioner you will show commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. You will be effective in creating environments conducive to learning and will provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
Teachers at CLC will ideally provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students through our CLC Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework. This should be achieved through the use of High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), formative assessment, CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) approaches in building positive relationships and engaging families in their child's learning.
The College has developed strong, innovative partnerships with its local primary schools and community organisations. A commitment to the College's emphasis on personal best, pastoral care, social and emotional learning initiatives and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) will be desirable, as well as active promotion of the College's vision, motto and values within the College and the wider community.
