The Role
The successful applicant would bring professional knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver an engaging, vibrant, and relevant curriculum for a small group of Year 7–10 students across the four core learning areas. You will ideally have a strong commitment to working collaboratively with students, staff, and the wider community to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The role will involve teaching a generalist load in the lower secondary years, with flexibility to support whole-school programs and events.
We are looking for a teacher who ideally:
- Has excellent teaching practice and strong classroom management skills.
- Builds positive, respectful relationships with students to foster engagement and learning.
- Is highly motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Is confident teaching both English and Mathematics at a lower-secondary level, with a willingness to contribute to broader school activities.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Meekatharra District High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
