The Role

Geraldton Senior High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Aboriginal Education Support Coordinator. We are looking for someone who understands the needs, strengths and challenges of First Nations students, families, and communities. The successful applicant will ideally provide leadership, guidance and a First Nations perspective to the school Leadership and Executive teams. They will play an important role in supporting cultural learning across the school and helping staff build strong, respectful relationships with First Nations students and families.

In this role, you will support the schoolwide implementation of culturally responsive practices and help progress the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. You will work closely with the Cultural Reference Group, the Aboriginal Education Team, and be an active member of the school leadership team. A key focus will be improving First Nations student attendance, engagement, and academic achievement.

The position also includes supporting the Two-Way Learning Team. Skills or interest in Science, the Arts, or local Aboriginal language will be highly regarded. We welcome applicants who are passionate about creating positive change for young people and who are committed to strong partnerships with community.

  5. Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports and general correspondence.
