The Role
We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated Mathematics educator, with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. To be suitable for this role, you should be student and relationship focused, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment. Our ideal applicant would reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the school and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success. Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) will also be an advantage.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply their expertise of the Mathematics learning area across Years 7 to 12, utilising their knowledge and teaching experience to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results.

As Tom Price SHS is a small school, all staff are ideally able to teach in a second or third area. Applicants who can teach Technologies, Science, Performing Arts, and/or have a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent will be highly regarded.
Your role will also extend beyond the classroom, as you help our students become confident leaders and powerful members of our local community. About You
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills:
- Exceptional relationship-building skills: The ability to forge strong, positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and the wider community.
- Effective classroom management: A strong understanding of restorative practices and classroom management strategies to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Mathematics curriculum knowledge: A strong understanding of the Mathematics curriculum from Year 7-12. This role will include Mathematics teaching in Years 7-10, as well as the opportunity to teach Year 11 and 12 General and ATAR classes. Prior experience teaching ATAR Mathematics Applications courses would be highly regarded.
- Student-centred teaching: Ability to identify and respond to student needs, ensuring they are engaged, challenged, and supported in their learning.
- Differentiated Practice: A willingness to differentiate your teaching and assessment across the full range of abilities, so that every student has the opportunity to experience success.
- Curriculum design and delivery: Skills in planning, teaching, and delivering engaging and high-quality Mathematics lessons from Year 7 to Year 12.
- Data-driven practice: Proficiency in assessing, monitoring, and reporting on student progress, using data to inform your teaching.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Tom Price Senior High School in 2025 and 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
