We are seeking to establish a pool of Mainstream Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Dowerin District High School’s (DHS) motto, Together We Strive, epitomises the partnerships between students, staff, parents and the wider community to ensure each student’s needs are met and our school continues to thrive.

We are committed to continuous improvement and collective efficacy, where opportunities for growth and leadership exist at every level. Our staff adhere to clearly articulated whole school planning and instructional expectations supported by data-driven decision-making to ensure teaching and learning are impactful for every student.

Student wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Through our school virtues, restorative practices, and explicit teaching of positive behaviours, we create safe, predictable, and inclusive environments where students are ready to learn and achieve their personal best.

The Role

Education Assistants – Mainstream (EAs) may work in any class from Kindergarten to Year 10 utilising their skills and knowledge to support individuals and small groups as well as assisting the teacher with whole class activities. EAs will be expected to assist teachers in the design, delivery, and assessment of planned education programs. They will work with the teachers to create an effective, engaging, and inclusive environment based on high expectations, best practice, early intervention and integrated use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for learning.

Suitable applicants should ideally be collaborative and work effectively within a team environment. They would utilise their strong written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, as well as have the ability to support the general health and well-being of students. Suitable applicants will use their initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment.
