This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

Eastern Goldfields Education Support Centre (EGESC) provides specialised education for high school students with mild, moderate, or severe intellectual disabilities, as well as students with Autism Spectrum Disorder who have exceptionally high educational needs. Many of our students also present with additional complex conditions that require support.

EGESC operates as a partner school and is co-located across two sites, Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (KBCHS), located on Boomerang Crescent, South Kalgoorlie and Eastern Goldfields College (EGC), situated on the Goldfields Institute of Technology campus in central Kalgoorlie. This dual-campus model allows students to access age-appropriate learning environments and tailored support as they progress through their schooling.

The Role

Join our team as an Education Assistant (Special Needs) and support the Department's objective of teaching and learning for students with special needs. You should assist in the implementation of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy, helping to ensure that students receive the best possible education.

You would work closely with teachers to deliver planned education programs, including the use of computers and digital technologies, and you will ideally be responsible for implementing individual student or small group programs or demonstrations. Additionally, you should provide feedback on education and therapy programs and would participate in the evaluation process.

    • Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
