Cannington Community Education Support Centre is a level 5 school that caters for over 120 secondary aged students from Years 7 to 12. Independence, achievement and respect are our Centre's core values. Our motto 'Learning for Life' reflects our belief that learning occurs throughout life and that our students require specialised curriculum to adequately prepare them. We are committed to working with families and other stakeholders to prepare pathways for our students when they leave school.
We provide a specialised curriculum with a focus upon Literacy, Numeracy, Personal and Social capabilities and Vocational Education and Training (VET) to students with identified disabilities. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and we pride ourselves on our diversity. We offer many programs designed to supplement mainstream curriculum with a functional emphasis and we are committed to evidence based practice, and person centred planning. Our students participate in School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) courses as well as Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) and other accreditation schemes including Technical and Further Education (TAFE) certification.
We have a safe learning environment where all staff are trained to deal with student behaviour with dignity and care. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school. All students receive funding from Disability Resources and Services (DRS). We share the campuses of Cannington Community College and Sevenoaks Senior College.

The Role
As a Program Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with the Principal and members of the school Leadership team to provide educational leadership within the school and the community. You will develop and promote the school's vision for success by building a positive and inclusive school culture and encourage school staff, volunteers, and community members to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.
The role is pivotal to providing pathways for the students ensuring their social and emotional learning is catered for as well as co ordinating differentiation of academic programs. Student and staff wellbeing, pastoral care, attendance, positive behaviour support, engagement and post school options are priority areas of work.
An extensive understanding of disability, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and behaviour support planning would be highly beneficial. An understanding of Department of Education (DOE) policies and procedures related to student wellbeing and safety as well as a working knowledge of Compass and other support systems would be advantageous. The successful applicant will ideally be a highly effective communicator who is able to handle difficult conversations in a compassionate and empathetic way and build positive professional working relationships with students, staff, parents and external stakeholders.
