Our People Services Division is a dynamic and evolving area that ensures the Department of Education has the capability and capacity to deliver on its commitment to the educational success and wellbeing of all Western Australian students. The People Services team delivers a comprehensive range of human resource and workforce planning functions, including industrial and employee relations, workers’ compensation and injury management, work health, safety and wellbeing, recruitment and employment services, strategic human resource planning, workforce policy, and workforce strategic initiatives. Our work is integral to building a high-performing, inclusive, and sustainable workforce for the future of public education in Western Australia.

The Role

The Principal Consultant contributes to the strategic direction and alignment of key functional areas across the Division by providing high-level professional and strategic management support to the Executive Director, People Services, to ensure the effective development, implementation, and coordination of the Division’s operations, projects, programs, and initiatives.

The role requires superior written skills, critical thinking and an ability to pivot quickly to respond to changing deadlines.  The ideal candidate will be resourceful and thrives working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.  Previous experience working in human resource management areas would be advantageous.
