Carine Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public Primary School with approximately 600 Kindergarten to Year 6 students. It is situated on the coastal strip, approximately 15 kilometres north-west of Perth in Western Australia. The school grounds merge with nearby Carine Senior High School (SHS) and both schools have wide open playing areas which are extensively used and enjoyed by the school community. Carine PS enjoys excellent support from the school community and parental involvement is encouraged and valued. Parents support the school in many ways including committee work, assistance in the classroom, coaching and officiating at sporting events, assisting with excursions and camps and being involved in fundraising activities.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher to lead our music program. At Carine PS, we believe the Arts are an integral part of a well-rounded education. Music inspires creativity, builds confidence, strengthens emotional well-being and helps children connect to themselves and others. Music allows children to find their voice, rhythm and experience joy. We are looking for someone who would ideally bring vision, fun and creativity to our program.
The successful applicants will ideally show professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging Primary School Music curriculum. As part of this role, you would follow whole-school approaches, self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice and promote an environment of active learning. You would plan and deliver a Music curriculum geared towards an eclectic approach incorporating strategies from Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze methods, featuring a wide range of Music genres, and integrates technology. The successful applicant would also be responsible for:
- Rehearsing and organising school and community performances for the choir,
- coordinating the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) students and selection of IMSS students; liaising and supporting IMSS staff to coordinate performance opportunities, as IMSS school contact.
- Work with the Carine Area Network of schools to coordinate transition activities to Carine SHS and engage in moderation.
- Manages a budget and maintains classroom instrument resources.
- Liaise and communicate with the parent network, regarding Music activities.
