This is a permanent part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026

Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high-quality educational program for approximately 500 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students live in the Merredin township, travel from nearby towns, and reside at Merredin Residential College. The broader community is positively involved and invested in our school.

Our school caters for a broad range of students, including students with disabilities, providing a range of targeted interventions, and varied educational pathways to engage and grow our students. Each year we have students achieving Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores above 90, completion of higher-level certificates, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.

Merredin College is located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. Positioned on the trainline, the Prospector connects all towns between Perth and Kalgoorlie-Boulder providing convenient travel across the Wheatbelt and Goldfields. There are numerous opportunities for day trips with places such as Wave Rock and Kulin Aquatic Centre and Slide close by. Merredin is located on the Goldfields Heritage Trail providing the avid bushwalker or camper with many opportunities to explore our wonderful country. Those interested in The Arts are also catered for with the Arts Society and Cummins theatre both located in Merredin.

In true regional spirit there is a strong sporting culture. There are great facilities in the Merredin District Olympic Pool and Merredin Regional Community and Leisure Centre along with many other outdoor sporting facilities.

The Role

The successful applicant will collaborate closely with school leadership and the Wellbeing team. You will join a community of motivated and innovative educators committed to ensuring the wellbeing and educational outcomes of students.

The successful applicant will provide specialist psychological support to assess, case formulate, develop hypotheses, recommend targets for intervention, and guide planning and implementation to address the needs of individual students, groups, and the whole school. Services will be provided in the areas of adolescent mental health, behaviour and engagement, emergency incident management, emotional and social wellbeing, learning adjustments, as well as professional learning for college staff, parents, and caregivers.

We are seeking an applicant who is adaptable, resilient, and resourceful; is able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and consult widely; and is able to work effectively as both part of a team and, independently and proactively when required.

  5. Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
