We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Hampton Park Primary School (PS) is located amongst pleasant tree filled grounds with ovals, play areas and equipment for all age levels. There is an Early Childhood building that was built in 2010 giving rooms for the Kindergarten and two Pre-Primary classes. In addition, we have a large outdoor playground which contains climbing equipment, a nature playground and bike tracks. Our school has a strong focus on explicit teaching, in particular the numeracy and literacy areas. Staff monitor student progress to ensure all students are achieving at their personal best.

In 2023 a Specialised Learning Program (SLP) commenced at the school to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a withdrawal model; parents apply to enrol their child in the program. Please see further information here.

The Role

Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environments. They will also provide feedback when required on education programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students is desired.

Suitable applicants should possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with students and colleagues. It is desirable that they have a knowledge of a range of evidence-based practices for learners with autism and have some experience or knowledge of educating autistic students.

Applicants recommended for inclusion in the pool will be used to fill vacancies in our mainstream classes and/or SLP. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate effectively within diverse educational settings will be essential to support students’ engagement, learning, and inclusion across all contexts.

    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
