Wananami Remote Community School (RCS) is a culturally responsive school in the heart of the Kimberley, serving the communities of Dodnun, Kupungarri, and Mt Barnett along the Gibb River Road. Our work is grounded in strong partnerships with families to ensure learning is respectful, relevant, and connected to culture. Wananami offers a unique opportunity to lead and grow in a setting rich in community and country.
At Wananami RCS, our vision is for every student to thrive in “Two Worlds” - to be Strong, Smart, Proud and Deadly leaders for future generations. We honour Ngarinyin language and culture through rich on-country learning experiences, while also championing evidence-informed teaching practices such as Daily Reviews, Explicit Direct Instruction, and research-based reading programs. Literacy is embedded across all learning areas, and teaching is differentiated to meet the diverse learning needs of every student. Our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework promotes a safe and respectful school culture, underpinned by high expectations. We use student achievement data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and guide targeted support. Central to our success is a collaborative staff culture where teachers share expertise, reflect on practice, and work together to continuously improve outcomes for all students.
