The Role
Westminster Primary School (PS) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated educational leader to join our team as Deputy Principal. This pivotal role involves strengthening the wellbeing and engagement of students, with a strong emphasis on supporting those at educational risk and fostering safe, calm, and orderly learning environments that reflect the school’s moral purpose, values, and strategic priorities.
The successful applicant will ideally provide leadership in student services through effective case management, intervention strategies, and by operating collaboratively with the school psychologist and external agencies. A key component of the role will be supporting teachers in the development and implementation of documented plans, while guiding consistent whole-school approaches to behaviour, pastoral care, and restorative practices.
As a leader, the Deputy Principal will maintain and strengthen school-wide systems that support student safety, inclusion, and engagement under a response to intervention framework. They will build positive, respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff, ensuring that every child is supported to participate fully in their learning journey.
A deep understanding of inclusive education, student wellbeing frameworks, and evidence-based strategies for managing behaviour and engagement is highly regarded. The Deputy Principal will ideally demonstrate a commitment to early identification of students, proactive interventions, trauma-informed practices, and collaborative approaches that promote student success and wellbeing.
