The Art Gallery of Western Australia develops and maintains the best public art collection in the State and the world’s pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art. Location
This position is located in central Perth within the Cultural Centre hub in the Art Gallery Building.
About the position
The role of Visitor Experience Officers is to enhance the Gallery’s public profile through positive interaction and information delivery while also assisting with ensuring the safety of Gallery visitors and art works.
The position has a key customer service role and interacts with the public, by providing informative and educational information and assistance about the Gallery, the art and its activities, and ensures the conditions of entry are followed and maintain the Gallery’s safety and emergency management procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to join WA’s leading visual arts organisation as we work to present the work of local and international artists for the enjoyment of Perth audiences. This recruitment process will be used to fill 6 permanent and part time vacancies at the Art Gallery.
The VEO position will work over weekends and may be required to work some evenings. As the position is interactive (patrolling Gallery spaces, assisting with the setting up of events, maintenance, and exhibition presentation) the ideal candidate should be physically sound to meet these requirements.
Conditions
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, applicants for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the Culture and Arts Portfolio and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered for permanent, fixed term, part time and full time.
A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.
A current First Aid Certificate or to be obtained within the first month of employment.
A current Working with Children Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment.
