We are seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants should display a sound understanding of the Year 7 to 10 Western Australian English Curriculum and Senior School English courses. Experience in teaching ATAR would be highly desirable. Applicants will ideally have the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding to prepare students for National Assessment Program: Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). Ideally we are seeking applicants who have proven abilities in learning program planning and instructional practice to facilitate improved student outcomes.

Suitable applicants should be able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. The learning environment you create should be differentiated, challenging, caring and creative, while catering for a range of needs that sees all students progressing and achieving. Additionally, suitable applicants should be able to utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods.

You will ideally support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. Suitable applicants should be able to build and maintain a positive learning environment therefore effective classroom management is critical to this role. All teachers appointed to Girrawheen SHS apply the principles of the school’s explicit model of instruction in their work.

As a suitable applicant, you should actively participate in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement.
