The Role
North Mandurah PS is seeking an exemplary Deputy Principal to join our school leadership team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and team oriented Deputy Principal with practical demonstrated understanding of teacher development and curriculum expertise across a K - 6 teaching and learning environment to join our team. In collaboration with the Principal, the Deputy Principal will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging students, staff, parent’s community members and others to share ownership of the school’s vision and goals. We are looking for an experienced individual committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. You should have experience leading teacher quality, using evidence based planning to improve learning outcomes and be able to work through complex situations in both a team environment and individually.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, reflective, and enthusiastic and should have successful well-developed leadership experience within their current role. We are looking for someone who possess excellent organisation skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment. Other desirable qualities would include a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change and demonstrate initiative, as well as actively supporting a strong culture of collegiality, integrity and high expectations.

North Mandurah PS is seeking a highly developed instructional coach whose chief professional responsibility is to bring evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with teachers and school leaders. At its core, instructional coaching involves providing guidance, training, and other resources as needed. Our work is underpinned by the following guiding principles relative to coachingāteacher professional learning teams:
- Student learning is at the heart of our work.
- Professional learning emerges from mutual respect, collegial relationships and a shared responsibility for student learning.
- Job embedded learning provides authentic context.
- Learners benefit from descriptive feedback relevant to their professional goals.

The successful applicant will ideally embody these guiding principles and be able to articulate a plan for the creation of a professional learning community which reflects this. They should lead our school focus on practical strategies for engaging students and improving their learning through evidence-based strategies with the goals of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity in schools. They will ideally be able to juggle several roles, and the skills needed to work one-on-one with teachers as well as to oversee a wider professional development effort in the school. They will also focus on practical changes teachers can make in their classrooms, supplementing this with professional development activities, and skilful mentoring of beginning teachers. They will also be expected to take on a leadership role within the network by upskilling school leaders from across the schools.
North Mandurah PS is on a clear school improvement journey having recently completed the Fogarty Edvance program and the successful applicant will have a key role in leading this process. Many of our teachers have completed, or are in the process of completing, the Teach Well Masterclass and are familiar with what this entails. The successful applicant should have a familiarity with, understanding of, and willingness to engage with these programs. North Mandurah PS has also implemented the Positive Behaviour Program (PBP) built around the expected behaviours of Be A Learner, Be Respectful, Be Safe & Be A Good Citizen. The Deputy Principal will be expected to be a part of our Positive Behaviour Schools (PBS) Team and knowledge of the PBS framework will be highly regarded.
In addition to these elements, as a Deputy Principal, you should also possess extensive knowledge in whole school approaches to curriculum, data analysis, and the ability to successfully assist staff with identifying key areas of focus. The successful applicant should be able to build and maintain effective relationships throughout whilst developing a clear commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth of all staff. A strong understanding of student achievement data is also required in order to establishing clear systems to track student data and substantiate all improvements in student achievement. A clear understanding of what is expected of students at each year level is required as well.
