The Role

Coodanup College is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Student Support Officer (SSO) to join their highly effective Student Services Team.

You will ideally work as part of the Student Services Team to provide pastoral care support to students (both individually and in groups) in a range of settings, encouraging student attendance and achievement at school through providing an environment that nurtures emotional, physical, academic and mental health and wellbeing of all students. Our students’ well-being is of the utmost importance to us. As a SSO you will ideally also be responsible for developing intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support system for students.

The SSO will ideally be responsible for developing links between students, family and the school and as such, knowledge of the youth sector and associated agencies is desirable, as is experience as a youth worker/Student Support Officer. The successful applicant should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and be able to prioritise to ensure tasks are completed within set deadlines or as directed. Having experience with high level precise record and note taking to document this on Department of Education platforms, such as Compass and Micro Soft Teams, is also highly desirable.

A key aspect of the role will ideally be supporting with Year 6 to 7 transition including school visits and student interviews. As they form the first impression of the college to the primary school community, the SSO should be able to display high level interpersonal and communication skills.
