This is a permanent, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2025

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students and between students and staff, and engaging parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school.

Principals are responsible for being innovative and creative in the establishment of systems and structures to foster academic development and improvements in social and emotional development for students, as well as engaging a diverse school community in the educational programs of the school.

About Yealering Primary School

Yealering Primary School is a small, community driven school located in the heart of the Upper Great Southern Wheatbelt, approximately 219 kilometres south-east of Perth. Nestled between the regional centres of Corrigin, Narrogin and Pingelly, the school serves families from the local townsite and surrounding farming properties. Established in 1910, Yealering Primary blends historic charm with modern facilities including a multi-purpose Music and Art room, dedicated science and cooking areas, extensive outdoor play spaces, and picturesque grounds that create a warm and inviting learning environment.

The school currently enrols 13 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and provides multi-age learning in low class size settings. This enables highly individualised teaching and a strong pastoral care focus. A focus in recent years has been the development of a positive whole school behaviour framework, aligned with newly articulated school values, Determination, Respect, Integrity, Vision, Equity and Service (DRIVES). Staff participate in targeted professional learning and collaborate closely to meet the needs of all learners. Students benefit from a wide range of learning experiences, including participation in regional events, enrichment activities and community-based projects. The school is well supported by an active Parents and Citizens’ Association and a dedicated School Council, both of which contribute significantly to student opportunities and school improvement.

The township of Yealering is a close knit and friendly community situated beside Lake Yealering, offering sporting amenities such as a golf course, tennis courts and bowling greens. The school enjoys strong partnerships with local families, who are deeply invested in its operation and direction. Community engagement is a hallmark of the school, with regular participation in events that connect generations, celebrate the arts, and foster local collaboration. Guided by a vision to build a safe and nurturing school community that promotes a love of learning and pursuit of excellence, Yealering Primary School fosters resilient and collaborative learners who strive to grow and achieve.
