Senior Labour Relations Advisor

The Employee Relations branch are seeking to fill two (2) fixed term, full time (1.0FTE) positions:

  • 1 x twelve (12) month fixed term appointment with possibly permanency.
  • 1 x six (6) month fixed term appointment.

The Labour Relations Branch operates in a complex human resources industrial environment and is responsible for ensuring policies and practices in the Department are developed and consistently applied; improved employment conditions and workplace flexibility within legislative and economic constraints; and for the provision of strategic, operational, industrial and complaint management advice, training, advocacy and negotiation in relation to all central and regional offices and schools.

The Role

If successful, you will join the Labour Relations team, providing strategic advice, training, support, and information on matters such as Award and Agreement interpretation, employment, industrial relations, and performance management. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, under the broad direction of the Manager of Labour Relations and Principal Labour Relations Advisors. Your responsibilities will include conducting complex research and analysis, reporting on key issues, and making informed recommendations to support effective labour relations outcomes.

As a Senior Labour Relations Advisor, you will represent, promote, and protect the interests of the Department and key stakeholders at a senior level in various industrial relations forums and other settings. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and review of a wide range of employee and labour relations policies and procedures. Additionally, you will provide direct, practical advice to School Leadership Teams including Principals and Central Office Line Managers, by phone, email, or in-person discussions.
