About Sport and Recreation

The Sport and Recreation team promotes participation and achievement in sport and recreation to support a healthy lifestyle for all Western Australians through physical activity. It provides strategic leadership and support for the sport and active recreation sectors with a focus on inclusion and accessibility.

This work extends into regional areas where the team contributes to a broad range of community outcomes in partnership with state and local government agencies, regional sporting associations, peak bodies, and community clubs to support liveable regional communities.

About the role

This is your opportunity to step into a key leadership role as the Regional Manager in the Goldfields. This role is crucial for Sport and Recreation in the region, while also integrating other agency portfolios such as Creative Industries and the Office of Multicultural Interests.

We have one permanent, full time (75hrs p/f) position available.

This role will provide the opportunity for someone with ambition to drive strategic initiatives in one of Australia's most dynamic regions, where you will be encouraged to use initiative to shape the future of our operations. Leading a small yet dedicated team, you will foster community relationships throughout the region, delivering key outcomes for the department.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong communication skills, capable of fostering positive working relationships with people at all levels, including regional key decision makers.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with an understanding of contemporary issues in community sport, recreation, facilities planning and service delivery.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and development, utilising effective human resources and financial management to achieve objectives.
