We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Success Primary School is located in the City of Cockburn and proudly supports a diverse and inclusive community of approximately 590 students from kindergarten to Year 6, across both mainstream and education support programs. Guided by our school motto “Unlock Your Potential” we foster strong partnerships between parents, caregivers and the wider school community to enhance outcomes for every child. Our well-resourced facilities include a hydro-therapy pool, sensory rooms and indoor gymnasium to support our student’s development and wellbeing.

The Role

At Success PS we are committed to building high performing teams that positively impact student outcomes. Our culture is supported by frameworks such as DiSC profiling, GROWTH coaching and Patrick Lencioni’s team model. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team. We work closely with many allied health professionals, parents, caregivers and our school psychologist to support every child’s learning journey.

As an Education Assistant - Special Needs you will ideally, under general supervision and guidance, support teaching staff to deliver planned education programs and undertake a range of tasks tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.

You will ideally draw on your experience, skills, knowledge and relevant qualifications to apply effective strategies and practises in the classroom. A commitment to collaboration to our school’s share vision is essential.

The ideal candidate will ideally have knowledge of working with children with a range of disabilities including Intellectual Disability, physical disabilities and various presentations of autism spectrum disorder. Experience working with students with complex behavioural, medical, and social needs would be highly regarded.

The ability to form genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students is central to this role. Our whole school approaches such as Team Teach, Zones of Regulation and Protective Behaviours ensure all students feel safe, valued and connected.

Communication is a top priority for our students. Education Assistants are expected to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as visuals, Key word signs and PODD (Pragmatic Organised Dynamic Display) as well as student specific communication devices.

Please note that our Educations Assistants – Special needs work across both education support and mainstream classrooms.  Applicants should be prepared to work in both settings.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
