We are seeking to establish a pool of Mainstream Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term,full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Newman Primary School (PS) is a vibrant learning community located in the town of Newman in the East Pilbara region, approximately 1200 kms from Perth. Newman Primary School is ideally located adjacent to the central business area of Newman and close to many town amenities. We are an Independent Public School, enabling localised planning and decision making to improve the outcomes for all.

Newman PS provides a safe and caring environment where all students can develop the knowledge skills and confidence to achieve their potential. Our staff are committed to ensuring that all students are recognised supported and catered for. Students across the Kindergarten to Year 6 setting originate from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures including European, Asian and African. The school currently has a 25% Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander population. Our learning environment is enhanced by the support of BHP and its many community-based partnership programs. Our School Board and P&C committee work together with staff to support student development.

The Role

Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will also provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students is highly regarded

We value applicants who possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You will ideally be compassionate and able to work collaboratively to implement documented plans.

Suitable applicants should possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and teachers. You should also have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour.
