The Role

Classroom Teacher – Kindergarten to Year 6

Shark Bay School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher to join our close-knit team in a unique, multi-age setting. This position will involve leading the teaching and learning program for a small Kindergarten to Pre-Primary cohort and contributing to the teaching of students from Years 1 to 6, or as directed by the Principal.

We are looking for an enthusiastic educator with a collaborative mindset, a flexible approach, and a strong commitment to every student’s wellbeing and academic growth. The successful applicant will ideally work closely with colleagues and education assistants to support a consistent, student-focused learning environment.

In the early years, our pedagogical approach combines explicit instruction with play-based learning. The ability to support this balance is essential. Given our small school context, team teaching, shared class responsibilities, and multi-age programming are central to our operations. Applicants should ideally have the ability to work effectively in professional teams to deliver high-impact teaching and support student progress.

At Shark Bay School, we use assessment as a vital tool to inform teaching and improve student outcomes. Ongoing formative and summative assessments are used to diligently track each child’s growth, guide planning, and ensure that learning is responsive to student needs. A commitment to using data to reflect on and adapt practice is essential to this role.

Experience in supporting students with diagnosed and imputed disabilities, including those with complex behavioural needs, will be highly regarded.

Highly desirable attributes include:

  • A strong understanding of InitialLit and Ochre Education resources
  • Completion of the Teach Well professional learning program
  • Experience with inclusive education and behaviour support strategies

If you are committed to making a meaningful difference in a remote coastal school community and are ready to work collaboratively in a flexible and supportive team, we would love to hear from you.
