Service Planning and Coordination are seeking to establish a pool of Principal Consultant - Service Delivery for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of July 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Department of Education’s strategic directions outline the commitment for every child, from Kindergarten to Year 12 to have access to high quality education underpinned by excellence in teaching and quality leadership. This is an education that meets the needs of the learner, preparing them for future success.
Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school and system-facing service delivery. While it primarily exists to support schools, it also has an important system-facing role supporting strategy and policy development.
Service Delivery is the key interface with schools. Its purpose is to plan, coordinator and deliver targeted services that support schools and regions to improve student achievement.
The Service Planning and Contracts branch is responsible for the contract management and implementation of specific state and national strategic education programs delivered by third party providers. Current programs include the School Breakfast Program, Clontarf Academies, Engagement Program for Aboriginal girls and young women, the Chaplaincy and Student Wellbeing Officer program and Education and Training Participation Plan programs. The branch also collects and collates data and information for corporate reporting and to support evidence-based decision making within Statewide Services’ Multi-Tiered System of Support model
The Role
As a Principal Consultant you provide high-level professional and strategic support for the effective development, implementation and coordination of projects, programs and initiatives. You lead and facilitate coordinated support to regions and schools to improve student achievement and educational outcomes.
In this role, the Principal Consultant engages in extensive consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration across business units to ensure integrated service delivery. Responsibilities include all aspects of contract management, researching and preparing briefing papers, correspondence, project budgets, and confidential reports while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. With a culturally responsive and context-specific approach, the Principal Consultant ensures productive and respectful engagement with all stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and successful outcomes.
We are looking for people who have experience in developing and managing complex, high-risk programs and contracts, as well as high-level planning and organisational skills with a proven ability to plan, coordinate and deliver outcomes. An understanding of the public sector contracting framework would be beneficial.
