We are seeking to establish a pool of Mainstream Education Assistant for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Cyril Jackson Senior Campus (SC) provides students with an alternative approach to Year 11 and Year 12 schooling. It is one of two senior campuses in Western Australia that offer secondary education to students beyond the compulsory age of 18 years. It hosts an Intensive English Centre (IEC) which caters for up to 250 newly arrived migrant or refugee students. These students participate in an English language program for up to two years before completing Years 11 and 12. International Fee-Paying Students are also accepted.

In addition to IEC graduates, students in Years 11 and Year 12 include school-aged children working towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education, 18 and 19 year-old repeaters and mature age students, returning to education to gain tertiary entrance qualifications, to follow an interest or to gain a skill-based qualification. Enrolments are accepted from across Western Australia and students hail from many diverse backgrounds.

The Role

As a Mainstream Education Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs. Suitable applicants should ideally possess sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, as well as the ability to support the general health and well-being of students.

You will ideally have excellent time management skills, as well as be able to work with a variety of teachers and students. You should ideally maintain a high degree of confidentiality and a demonstrated capacity to show both initiative and discretion. The ability to respond to the individual and developmental needs of young adult students in a manner suited to their circumstances, will also be required. Suitable applicants should ideally be friendly, pro-active, and confident in liaising with staff and families to provide the best support possible for students.
