We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Auslan for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As an Education Assistant - Auslan, you provide the highest level of access to the curriculum for Deaf students with sign language interpreting and teacher directed tutoring, according to the needs of the students. Suitable applicants would assist the teacher in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants may be involved in team situations, work under limited supervision, and may be required to engage in consultation and provide feedback.

Suitable applicants will ideally have well developed written and verbal communication skills, be able to work well as part of a team and have a good understanding of the issues affecting deaf or hard of hearing students. You should have the ability to show initiative in completing tasks combined with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families. You will be part of a team of experts that includes the Visiting Teachers of the Deaf and other Auslan.
