The Role
As the Laboratory Technician, you will ideally provide support to teaching staff in routine chemical and equipment preparation and construction of apparatus for science classes whilst ordering supplies, equipment and managing stock levels. The successful applicant performs basic repairs and maintenance on the equipment whilst constructing teaching aids as required. Additionally, you are responsible for the labelling, maintenance and safe storage of laboratory chemicals, equipment and resources and the disposal of chemical, physical, and biological laboratory materials.
The successful applicant will ideally have the knowledge, skills and experience required to perform the Laboratory Technician role to a high standard. The ability to display initiative, good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organisational skills and knowledge of Work Health and Safety practises and policies are desirable. You will also ideally demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
