Dianella Secondary College (SC) is innovative and dynamic with students at our heart. With a real focus on relationships, our professional staff are committed to ensuring exceptional learning opportunities exist for our students. Our college is proud to announce a transformative journey to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) by 2026 in line with this Business Plan. Throughout this journey, we will educate our community on the principles of CARE and provide explicit learning opportunities for our staff and students. We have a strong focus on student voice, and our CARE values have been captured from their perspective. Our goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all and ensure that every member of our college is equipped to make positive choices each day.
Dianella SC, situated in Perth’s northern suburbs, is a rich and vibrant multi-cultural environment that has a long history of producing successful and committed community members. Students have access to a varied curriculum that provides them with the opportunity to explore and develop their own individual talents and passions. We provide engaging courses across all Learning Areas from Years 7-12 in The Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Vocational Education and Training. Dianella Secondary College also offers an elite Soccer Academy that welcomes students with a passion for soccer. Participating students will work on their individual skills and techniques, team strategies and tactics while focusing on their personal and social skills to develop them as confident and respectful young leaders.
Our specialist STEM Academy enrichment program is an innovative and integrated approach to learning that combines key elements of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. It is offered to students to engage them in an innovative and collaborative manner in conjunction with Edith Cowan University. Students in the program are immersed in a creative environment, where they are encouraged and motivated to find solutions to real problems both locally and globally, while simultaneously addressing the requirements of the WA and Australian curriculum, undertaken in a state-of-the-art newly built STEM learning environment.
In Years 11 and 12 in preparation for further studies or employment, students have access to a wide range of ATAR courses, Vocational Education and Training courses at Certificate level II and III. Students also have opportunity to access school-based traineeships as well as opportunities to engage in courses at TAFE or with a private provider and still be enrolled at Dianella Secondary College. We have developed an incredibly successful partnership with four other schools, the New North Education Initiative, allowing for Senior School students to access a wider breadth of courses with specialist teachers across five different campuses and facilities.
We have strong connections with our community and developed alliances with various educational institutions including Edith Cowan University and the University of Western Australia; we have also forged partnerships with industry organisations, such as Royal Life Saving Society WA, The Rotary Club of Matilda Bay and The Smith Family. These relationships are developed for the benefit of students, to aid their learning and provide them with the best opportunity to realise their full potential and support their ‘Ambition Unlimited’!
