The Role
The role of the Home Economics Assistant is to be responsible for the prior preparation of resources that assist teachers in the delivery of educational courses. This role spreads across three subject areas; Food, Textiles and Child Development. You would carry out tasks such as weighing, measuring, and distributing food for Food classes, cutting and organisation of fabrics for Textiles & Child Development classes, and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and stocked resources. You may also be responsible for and undertake cleaning of classrooms and resources consistently throughout your working hours. You will ideally work with other staff in the management of food ordering and food storage requirements. Computer literacy is highly desirable for this position. You may be required to clean during the vacation periods (school holidays) which includes thorough cleaning of all equipment and rooms.
As the Home Economics Assistant you should have a proactive, positive approach to your role and be able to work well autonomously as well as part of a team. Successful applicants should be able to prioritise tasks well, demonstrate initiative and be highly organised and efficient. Woodvale SC has specialist facilities, including a commercial kitchen. Experience with cleaning and maintaining equipment, furniture, fittings and resources will be highly regarded.
