We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Poynter Primary School (PS) is a high performing and inclusive independent public school located in Duncraig with a relatively stable enrolment at around 440 students. The Role

The Deputy Principal plays a pivotal role in shaping the school's identity and driving its Business Plan and strategic direction in collaboration with the Principal. The suitable applicants will have a strong focus on student progress through analysing data, student well-being, engagement, and academic achievement, underpinned by a deep knowledge of effective teaching and learning environments. They should be adept at leading evidence-based teaching practices, leading the implementation of High Impact Teaching and driving improvement through coaching and mentoring processes

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Deputy Principal ensures compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies, manages financial and human resources effectively, and supports the Principal in reporting on school performance.

Suitable applicants will ideally be a skilled case manager, capable of leading collaborative decision-making, providing constructive feedback, and delivering classroom-focused solutions that enhance teaching and learning outcomes. They should possess excellent interpersonal acumen and be an innovative and strategic thinker. They would ideally have experience in leading whole school processes for students with additional needs, SEN planning and liaise with external agencies. This includes the development and oversight of Tier 2 and 3 interventions to support diverse student needs and additionally supporting staff to identify and differentiate for high potential learners. They should be a key leader within the Student Services team and work together to support all students through a multi-tiered and wrap-around approach.

At Poynter, we are committed to improving our teaching, learning and integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Suitable applicants will have a good working understanding of iPad use and programs such as Seesaw with students. They may need to oversee the management of ICT infrastructure and ensure the effective implementation of teaching and learning with the ICT Capabilities Framework and newly leased and purchased devices.

The positions will include a teaching component to support school priorities, this could be any year level K-6. The Deputy Principals are responsible for the planning and facilitating of Poynter’s highly regarded specialist HOTS program, an enrichment program targeting higher order, critical and creative thinking skills. Ideally, suitable applicants will have experience in coaching Tournament of the Minds; our teams have repeatedly achieved great success both nationally and on the international stage.
