The Role
Wongan Hills DHS is seeking a motivated applicant with a passion for teaching English at the secondary level, possessing a solid understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. In your role as an English teacher, you will deliver a curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of all students, fostering an environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.
Ideally, the successful applicant should be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a highly supportive learning environment. Flexibility and teamwork within a District High School context is integral to this role, as is a commitment to personal and professional growth. As the successful applicant, you should ideally exhibit high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within the school community.
This position may suit someone with the capacity to teach across two learning areas. Primary and graduate teachers are also encouraged to apply. Teaching into primary to cover Duties Other Than Teaching (DOTT) is also a possibility.
It would be highly regarded if the successful applicant can develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, displays a strong work ethic, possesses effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively and effectively in a professional learning community. The successful applicant will ideally be relationship-focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Wongan Hills District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
